Former District Attorney and Federal Prosecutor Gregg Cohen has committed his nearly 30 years of extensive criminal law and trial advocacy skills to protecting and defending the rights of all those accused of a crime. Mr. Cohen was responsible for the prosecution of thousands of criminal cases spanning from State and Federal drug crimes to First Degree Murder.

As a former prosecutor, Mr. Cohen knows where to find deficiencies in a case and use them to his client’s advantage. He is considered a skillful trial and litigation strategist, and powerful courtroom advocate.

Gregg Cohen served as the District Attorney for Tehama County for 20 years, having been elected for five consecutive terms before retiring. As District Attorney, he was responsible for every lawyer and every criminal prosecution in the office. Mr. Cohen’s cases include murder, drug trafficking, violent crimes, gun crimes, sex crimes, domestic violence, theft and white collar crimes, and DUI/BUI offenses. As the District Attorney, Mr. Cohen tried a multitude and vast variety of felony cases, including a First Degree Murder-Death Penalty case, winning this case, as well as, each of his other trials.
Previously, Gregg Cohen worked as a Deputy District Attorney for the Shasta County District Attorney’s Office as the sole prosecutor responsible for handling and trying Major Narcotics Offenses. Prior to being elected District Attorney, Mr. Cohen worked as a Tehama County Prosecutor handling all types of felony and misdemeanor matters and trials. Over the course of his nearly 25 years as a criminal prosecutor in the north state, Mr. Cohen developed a solid reputation with attorneys and judges in Shasta, Tehama, Trinity, Siskiyou and Glen Counties.
As a former District Attorney and prosecutor, Gregg Cohen worked extensively with law enforcement in both Shasta and Tehama Counties. He understands how prosecuting attorneys build their cases from the time of arrest, to the trial. He knows where to look for deficiencies in the evidence and how to target weaknesses in the case.
Prior to moving to Northern California in 1996, Gregg Cohen served as a Federal Prosecutor when he was asked to join the United States Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of California. As a Federal Prosecutor, Mr. Cohen was responsible for handling Federal drug interdiction cases from Grand Jury indictment through jury trial.
In practice, Mr. Cohen has dedicated himself to the practice of Criminal Law. He is a dedicated, experienced, trial attorney who wants to ensure that each of his clients are protected and expertly guided as they go through the criminal justice system.
