The Importance of The Attorney Client Relationship

Our commitment to each client is to build a strong, trusted relationship between attorney and client and, if so desired with their family too. The attorney-client relationship is actually a very special relationship between two people. What this relationship offers is secrecy and confidence.

The Attorney Client relationship is one of the only relationships that involves truly secret communication. An attorney takes whatever you say as the client, or potential client, to their grave. With that confidence comes an unbridled connection between an attorney and a client with no barriers.

When a person finds themselves in trouble with the law, it is often the worst time of a person’s life. All people want to know: what will happen, what may happen, and how it will negatively affect their future. At Cohen Criminal Law we build strong, personal bonds with each of our clients. The job for us is to formulate a unique, strategic, plan to address the criminal charges, or potential criminal charges, to ensure as best as possible that our client’s future will not be compromised by this case.

As human beings, each one of us makes mistakes and decisions that we realize that we later regret. This is our greatest concern for each of our clients….how will this client be affected in the future? Will this result lead to a negative consequence for this client? What can be done to avoid this outcome? What is the best strategic way forward for this client? What if any collateral consequences must we be concerned with for this particular client?

At Cohen Criminal Law we know that there are many future career paths that could be cut off from a specific type of conviction. Such consequences that may come after a conviction for a certain offense are referred to as “collateral consequences.” The concept means that we must not only consider what the certain consequence is for the commission of the crime itself, but we must also consider what effect a specific conviction might have on a client’s future. The overriding goal is to make sure that this one simple mistake does not impact a client’s particular future dream or goal.
