Can I have my record cleared in California?

For many people who’ve been convicted of crimes in the state of California, dismissal of those crimes is not entirely out of the question. Some of the circumstances that may warrant dismissal are as follows:

  • If you’ve been convicted of an infraction, though you’ve waited one year after your conviction, you may apply for dismissal.
  • If you have been convicted of a misdemeanor charge, denied probation, and waited at least one year from the date of your being convicted of the misdemeanor, you may apply for dismissal.
  • Some people who have been convicted of misdemeanor or felony charges and completed probation and all terms of their probation may qualify for dismissal.

As long as you are someone who is currently not on probation or serving a sentence for any other criminal case and you do not have any additional pending criminal charges and you meet the aforementioned criteria, you may qualify for dismissal.
